Am writing this article as I sip on a cup of hot lemon and ginger tea trying to soothe my sore throat that has come as a result of a flu I have caught (my hubby claims to have passed it on).
I hope all of you are healthy!
I can’t believe that it’s already 1 year since I decided to be a style and lifestyle blogger, and oh my!
I have always been that girl who knew what she wants out of life, but unlike so many decisions I have made in my life this one scared the hell out of me!
Why you may ask?
Isn’t it obvious, like you, I wondered how many people would be interested in reading content tailored by little old me!
Then when would I find time to sit and create content? (With having a very busy schedule)
Would people love my style?
I would go on and on.
Truth be told the day my hubby found out why I was hesitant to start blogging, he took it upon himself to create this blog straight up from scratch (obviously with my ideas in my mind).
I mean its one thing to get married to someone and another to marry someone who supports each of your endeavors. Iam so grateful!
So, a day like today I launched my blog, scared and stressed out as I was just diagnosed with a disease that I didn’t know would shake and cripple my life in a matter of weeks.
Well now that’s a story for another day.
Point is, I did it! I wasn’t anymore proud of myself! Thinking about it is sort of getting me all teary.
It was my biggest goal in 2017 and in less than 2 months into the year I had done it! Talk of slaying my goals!
Why did I decide to start this journey?
The answer is simple: I just love fashion and style. I tell everyone I meet that I was born to do this, not just blogging but styling.
It’s the one thing that I do so effortlessly and it brings me so much joy and fulfillment.
I love inspiring and encouraging people, if I could help one person through my writing (check Tabby’s Chronicles) I would go to bed literary smiling! I love helping people, period.
So, 3 lessons I have learnt along the way:
1.Be authentic (find your why)
“It’s been done before but not by you,” that’s the best way I can describe authenticity!
“What gives the shimmer of gold to something is the fact that there is humanity in an authentic piece of creation, someone does it because it ignites their soul”-Elizabeth Gilbert
I was creating something that not only would help people but gave me the most joy.
It was truly an extension of me; I never wanted to do it like anyone else.
It became too much, I had so much to deal with and my body was telling me all sorts of things, which eventually I had to stop and listen.
Even then, I would miss writing but I didn’t have the energy to. One thing remained though my love for helping people by sharing content.
“All love eventually becomes help. if you want to help love what you are doing, who you are with, where you are living, whatever the thing is that you love you will start to radiate this thing people want to be around, that’s the kindest thing you can do for your community”-Elizabeth Gilbert
So, one so many often times when I GET INTO A CREATIVE FUNK, I remind myself the why and get back to it, it can be difficult at times but I always aim to remain curious about what’s on the other side of sharing content that is authentically done by me.
I don’t want to be known to be someone whose started something and left it hanging, oh no, my course is bigger.
So many people wait and take the leap of faith to walk this journey with me and I wouldn’t want to fail them leave alone me.
For shoots, when I write my articles is extremely crucial.
Blogging has taught me the art of working smart whilst being discipline.
If someone is going to spare a minute to read an article done by me, I need to give it my best; it has to be quality work.
I must say am better at planning and I can’t wait to share with you so many amazing things lined up for this year!
Now, thank-you for choosing to walk this journey with me, I do it for you all.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here.
Let me know what you would love to see more on my blog in the comment section below.
